Though it has yet to make an official public statement on the matter, DraftKings will close its live dealer online casino studio in Atlantic City in two months.
First noticed by NEXT.io, DraftKings appears on the New Jersey WARN Notice list. In the Garden State, employers are required to give 60-days’ notice of business closures and layoffs – the notices are posted on the WARN list.
DraftKings’ is one of the most recent entries on the list; the closure will affect 101 employees and is set to take effect on January 31, 2025.
NEXT.io confirmed with DraftKings that this WARN notice is, in fact, for its live dealer studio at the Golden Nugget. A company rep told the media outlet: “As we finalise our GNOG integration, effective January 31, 2025, DraftKings will transition its in-house Live Dealer operations to third-party studios in Atlantic City.”
an unnamed third-party provider will take over operations
DraftKings assured that customers will not see a disruption in live dealer games, that an unnamed third-party provider will take over operations.
Who that new provider will be remains to be seen, but the most logical guess is Evolution. Evolution already works with DraftKings in multiple states and has live studios at Tropicana, Hard Rock, and Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City.
It also proposed a plan in May to build a $75m Atlantic City campus to consolidate all of its live dealer studios in the area.
