Convention Goers Enjoy a Unique Game of Pokémon Blackjack

People attending a convention recently were in for a treat when they got to play a game of Pokémon blackjack.

Pokémon cards were used instead of a classic deck of cards

Using cards from the iconic trading card game, they decided to hit or stand like they would in a traditional game. The difference was that Pokémon cards were used instead of a classic deck of cards, with the values relating to the card’s health points.

Instead of 21 being the magic number, it was 500, with anything over this total being a bust:

Some viewers on Instagram remarked that the dealer forgot to show his second card before asking the players to hit or stand, which is how traditional blackjack works. It was the first time they ran a game during a convention, with Shiny_CardboardCollector saying he has “a lot of exciting things coming in for this game” in the future.

Popular gambling streamer Roshtein revealed that Pragmatic Play is getting ready to release its new ‘HyperPlay’ feature in a month. This will allow people to play slot games faster, as they don’t need to sit through the animations, but will still get the same return to player (RTP).

He showed viewers a sneak preview of the feature on Wednesday:

HyperPlay will allow players to keep track of results by compiling a history of all recent spins on a given slot game, allowing them to see every result, including the amount won, any multiplier hit, and if free spins were used.

The Pragmatic Play team in the chat confirmed that you can get a replay of any round or bonus if you want to watch the actual spin.

it’s only a matter of time before other developers follow suit

Roshtein mentioned how once Pragmatic Play rolls out a feature like this, it’s only a matter of time before other developers follow suit. He noted how NoLimit City has a similar feature for “spreadsheet spins” that he claims isn’t as polished.

While he doesn’t want to spin slots in this fashion at all times, he does think it will speed up spinning for players and will be more stream-friendly when doing a hunt to get bonuses faster.

Roshtein is excited, while also being a little bit scared, as this type of feature allows you to quickly play a lot of spins in a short space of time, which could lead to losses quickly ramping up.

Casinos, Culinary Union Join Forces to Try Re-Establish Court to Ban People From Vegas Strip

While casinos and unions don’t always see eye to eye, they are uniting on an important issue in Las Vegas. The Culinary Workers Union Local 226 represents the interests of about 60,000 workers in the city and is working alongside the Nevada Resorts Association to re-establish a court process to ban unruly individuals from the Strip.

The two parties sent a joint letter to try to amend Governor Joe Lombardo’s public safety bill. The Resort Corridor Court was dismantled in 2024 due to overwhelming case numbers after only being created the previous year.

there is the possibility of a special session commencing in the coming days

The time period to establish such a change this year is short, with Nevada’s 2025 legislative session ending in the early hours of Tuesday morning. However, there is the possibility of a special session commencing in the coming days.

Casinos and the union want a return to the court system that would let judges ban people from the Strip for as many as 12 months if they get a misdemeanor conviction for a crime committed in a tourism area. The letter explains that employees are subject to threats on a daily basis and that the issue could get worse if nothing is done.

The letter mentioned specific cases in which people who were caught trespassing on several occasions on the Strip assaulted hotel staff and security. In one case, a man trespassed on more than 700 occasions.

Caesars’ Vegas Resort Savaged on Social Media for Early Check-In Fees

Visitors blast policy

Social media users have savaged a Caesars Entertainment-operated resort on the Vegas Strip for early check-in fees.

An X post by a Houston poker player and gamer revealing The Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino’s $60 (plus tax) fee at digital kiosks went viral over the weekend.

While X user @wonderousATX lit the fees fire, his original post tagging local influencer giant Vital Vegas fueled the angry flames:

The responses ranged from outrage to disbelief over the service fees for a resort considered mid-tier.

Vital Vegas’ response to the Texan influencer’s post that Flamingo “was trying to pull swindles early” was a no-nonsense rebuke of : “Awful. They’re doing this to themselves.”

Charges galore

An X user responded to the Vital Vegas’ retweet with: “This is nearing insanity.” @wonderousATX’s share with Las Vegas Locally also ramped up the viral impact. A user replied with heavy sarcasm:

Nice….charging 60 bucks for a room that’s just sitting empty til 3:30….way to go.”

According to reports, the advance check-in charges are commonplace in Vegas and run in the general region of $20 to $50. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported, however, that the “$60 charge by Flamingo is higher than expected for a hotel of its caliber.”

The LVR-J contrasted this to the high-end Wynn and Encore luxury resorts only charging $75 for early check-in.

Bad timing

The publication added Caesars had not responded to its request for comment following the widespread condemnation of the Flamingo. While Caesars might be in the spotlight, angry voices were raised about the general fleecing of Vegas visitors at a time Sin City doesn’t need the negative press.

Both visits to the US gambling capital and gaming revenue of the Strip casinos have been on the downturn over the past months.
