The post NY City Council Rings Death Knell For Bally\u2019s $4bn Casino Project<\/a> appeared first on Vegas Slots Online News<\/a>.<\/p>\n Bally\u2019s Corporation could soon be joining Las Vegas Sands and Saks Fifth Avenue in exiting the protracted race for three licenses to operate a casino in downstate New York.<\/p>\n While Sands and Saks voluntarily pulled out of the NY bid, the Bally\u2019s setback comes as an apparent shock.<\/p>\n voted to reject the proposed land-use changes<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n A seemingly nailed-on death sentence for Bally\u2019s pitch for a US$4bn casino in the Bronx came after the New York City Council (NYCC) on Monday voted to reject the proposed land-use changes.<\/p>\n Chief instigator, Republican Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato, took to X with an image of a press release stating she led a \u201chard-fought bipartisan effort\u201d to vote down the Bally\u2019s bid:<\/p>\n FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:<\/p>\n Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato\u2019s press release regarding today\u2019s down vote of Bally\u2019s Proposed Casino pic.twitter.com\/0hdTG7Xn9f<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Councilwoman Kristy Marmorato (@KristyMarmorato) July 14, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Crain\u2019s New York Business<\/em> on Monday also cited Marmorato, who said Bally\u2019s \u201ccame to the table a little too late, with promises too vague and a process too flawed to rebuild the trust that was already lost in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n The NYCC sided with Marmorato 29-9 in an outcome Bally\u2019s Chairman and CEO Soo Kim branded \u201cincredibly disappointing.\u201d<\/p>\n Crains<\/em> politics reporter Nick Garber bolstered Bally\u2019s disappointment, stating the Long Island-based firm\u2019s NY bid was \u201ceffectively killed by the City Council.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s sort of nutty.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Garber took to X to share Kim\u2019s dismay, the CEO stating Bally\u2019s\u00a0\u201chad met the council member\u2019s ask.\u201d Kim added: \u201cIt\u2019s sort of nutty.\u201d<\/p>\n Nutty or not, Bally\u2019s rejection leaves the field down to seven bidders.\u00a0Las Vegas Sands pulled out the race in April citing concerns about online casinos launching<\/a> in NY, with Saks exiting the same month citing \u201cother strategic priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0According to Crains<\/em>, Marmorato branded the Bally\u2019s bid \u201cnot real economic development.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is not housing, a hospital or community improvements.
